Description of Services

Rawhide Youth Services’ main campus offers some of the most integrated programs for at-risk youth in the state of Wisconsin. Male youth from the ages of 11-18 live on campus while participating in residential programming. This programming includes individual and group therapy and can include occupational or equine-assisted therapy as well.

Students receiving residential care attend an alternative school with teachers who are equipped to meet students’ needs in multiple areas where they may be lacking. They live with houseparents in structured homes that help them learn healthy family dynamics and recreational habits. Residential youth often also participate in community service projects in order to help them give back to the community.

Rawhide receives referrals for many of the most challenging youth in the state of Wisconsin. Youth with multiple mental health diagnoses, histories of trauma and involvement with the juvenile justice and/or foster care systems are frequently placed at Rawhide. Visit rawhide.org in order to learn more about our residential programming and our success stories. Rawhide also offers treatment foster care in order to provide youth who qualify with a smooth transition home.

In addition to on-campus residential services, Rawhide has six outpatient community counseling clinics.

Located in Green Bay, Appleton, New London, Fond du Lac, Milwaukee and Shiocton, these clinics offer outpatient mental health counseling to adults, couples, families and groups with a focus on serving Rawhide’s target age group, youth between the ages of 14-24.

Therapists in Rawhide’s counseling clinics are trained in a variety of evidence-based practices that vary based upon individual clinics and therapists. Trauma informed interventions are common, with all of Rawhide’s therapists trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy for children ages 3-18 and many also trained in alternative trauma modalities such as EMDR or brainspotting.

New London, Shiocton and Fond du Lac’s locations are all fully equipped with stables for equine-assisted psychotherapy. Many of Rawhide’s outpatient clinics partner with local school districts in order to offer convenient therapy sessions for children without taking too much time out of their regular school day. Community counseling is meant to be easily accessible and low-cost, with most major insurance companies accepted.
